A Robust Stereo Matching Method Using Belief Propagation Based on Image Segmentation

The traditional global optimization stereo matching methods using belief propagation algorithm based on pixel have two shortcomings: errors easily induced by single pixel and high computation complexity. In order to solve the two deficiencies, this paper proposes a novel stereo matching method using belief propagation algorithm based on image segmentation, using segmented regions instead of pixels and disparity plane set instead of disparity search space. Instead of assigning a disparity value to each pixel, a disparity plane is assigned to each segment.
