Network Tools and Protocols
Phil Williams · 1976
The following abstract describes the services provided under the Digital Equipment Corporations Network product - DECNET. DECNET provides the system designer with a set of hardware/software tools with which to implement communications between computer systems. The ability to create Resource Sharing, Distributed Computing and Communications Networks is achieved through the provision of specialised protocol layers serving the functions of interprogram communications, automatic error detection and re-transmission, network control, data access control and file services.
