Context, processes, and measurements of visual aesthetics in HCI: a commentary to Tractinsky's chapter on visual aesthetics
Gitte Lindgaard · Swinburne figshare (Swinburne University of Technology) · 2012
In his chapter, Tractinsky provides a thorough review of the aesthetics-related literature in the Human-Computer Interaction arena and beyond and it is a pleasure to read. It is especially nice to see just how far HCI research into visual aesthetics has come in 15 short years! Tractinsky reminds us of the origin of the concept of aesthetics and gives a very nice summary of relevant research from the perspectives of design and psychology as well as looking at practical issues of designed devices.
