Design of an Examination Audit System

The work reported in this paper is an attempt to develop a Decision Support System (DSS) called Examination Audit System (EAS). Its primary purpose is to use item analysis method to evaluate the worth of the multiple choice test/examination conducted in the context of the selection process. Question paper, key to the paper and the students’ responses are the inputs. The principal finding is that the distracter analysis needs to be carried out first which will report the infirmities like miskey, multikey, ambiguous key and misprint to the various actors involved in the process of examination, namely, the controller of examinations, paper setters, teachers and data entry operators.
