Towards Discrete Event Dynamic Models of Chemical Processes

The synthesis and design of controllers is hampered by the absence of systematic methods to model the operating plants as discrete-event dynamic systems. A first exposure of an approach based on first principle modelling is given and the synthesis of the controller using the DEDS plant model is briefly demonstrated.
