When in case of high speed railways, the communication environment for data transmission between on-board and trackside is very poor, due to tunnels and fast movement. However, as tunnels are the only considered railway communication environment during high speed movement, there is a chance that the tunnel react as the waveguide itself, leading us to reconsider the fact that tunnels are not the only factor for deteriorating the communication environment. Therefore, to develop a radio communication technology available for data transmission between on-board and trackside in the course of ultra high speed railways, an analysis of propagation environment of communication environment was implemented in this thesis. That is, the propagation environment needed for railway radio communication during high speed movement inside the tunnel was analyzed in accordance with the tunnel formation/medium and usable frequency band.
