We have investigated the possibility of using genetic algorithms within computer architectures. These algorithms are significant to engineering as a means of providing additional adaptive capability to known and existing control mechanisms, but generally these algorithms are very brittle and applying a unique algorithm for a class of problems is very difficult. Each problem needs different set of algorithms and parameters for the best performance. This paper discusses the underlying mechanisms of genetic algorithms and a model of a computing architecture which can be applied for a wide range of problems. The model has been developed and simulated using conventional software techniques and applied to different problems.
