On an Optimum Architecture for Distributed Processing Units
Warren Marwood, AP Clarke · 1981
A canonical architecture involving distributed CPU's is proposed that involves many conceivable arrangements of processing units. This architecture is examined in the light of real-time processing requirements. It is shown that for an exponential model of computing load on each distributed unit the probability that the system will fail to cope with a task can be predicted. It is also shown that the model results in confirmation of intuitive concepts on the effects of computer load distribution.
