This paper describes the use of information modelling techniques in developing an information architecture to support better health outcomes. It examines how information modelling techniques add rigour to the information management process and support the development of a common language. It suggests an information architecture can be most useful when key stakeholders are involved in the process and the resulting architecture is widely disseminated. Intranet and Internet technologies hold the promise of enabling the techniques to be used more inclusively and productively.
