According to the user traffic increase, it is very important to make a commercial network safe and efficient by the hierarchical network design. Since WCDMA networks were commercially installed at first, more and more subscribers have been taking advantage of this improved network service. Gateway MSC was defined for this hierarchical network design in the 3GPP standard forum. In the commercial network operation, operational stability is a matter of the highest priority and Gateway MSC technology will be the most reasonable fault localizing design for stable network management. This dissertation will show the estimation results of maximum signal and user traffic capacity for fulfilling the customer’s requirement and designing stable hierarchical network.
