Low-Complexity Scalable Image Compression Based on Lifting Scheme

JPEG is transform coding used DCT. Image compression technique using transform coding based on DCT obtained these effects of energy compression and removing redundancy. For an 8-point DCT only 11 multiplications and 29 additions are required. In binDCT based on lifting scheme, 8-point DCT shift and additions are required. Lifting scheme offers several advantages that are in-place computation, integer-tointeger transform, progressive transmission and low-complexity. Therefore binDCT based on lifting scheme is efficiently able to reduce buffer size and low-complexity in transform coding used DCT.
