Information operations studies in the Netherlands made the Dutch Ministry of Defence (MoD) aware that both military and public information-infrastructures can be target for hostile information operations. As a result, MoD stimulated discussions within the Dutch government on the threat to and vulnerability of Dutch critical infrastructures. This paper describes critical infrastructures protection studies that the Dutch government initiated in the last 2 years in order to address the threats, vulnerabilities, and the possible urgency to resolve them. The paper highlights lnformation operations, risks and threats to the information age society, and the need for public-private partnership to address Critical information- Infrastructure Protection (CIP)
