Wireless sensor networks(WSN) become more and more important in various application areas and several application scenarios require connectivity between WSN and the Internet. Though WSN is typically not IP-enabled, connection to the IP network makes it easy to monitor specific sensors everywhere in the world. In this paper, we define Internetaccessible Wireless Sensor Network(I-WSN) as convergence of WSN and IP and propose an advanced energy-saving IP packet delivery scheme for I-WSN. Large overhead such as the TCP/IPv6 header in the upper layer makes it too inefficient to send a small size of sensor data of the WSN. In this header suppression scheme, when transmitting data from sensors, an encryption bit instead of temporally repetitive headers is included in the packet. The proposed header suprression scheme makes I-WSN more energysaving networks.
