A new speech and signal analysis package (AUDLAB) has recently been developed by the Centre for Speech Technology Research (CSTR) at the University of Edinburgh. AUDLAB is the primary speech analysis tool used by researchers working on the Alvey Large Scale Demonstrator in automatic speech recognition, a project whose objective is to build a speech-driven word processor and workstation. In the context of this project, AUDLAB's primary application is in the interactive development and testing of acoustic and phonetic hypotheses about segmentation and labelling of speech waveforms. The CSTR's partners in the Demonstrator consortium are Plessey-UK Ltd, Imperial College London and HUSAT (Loughborough University).
