Electromagnetic Compatibility in Microprocessor Systems
JL Park, JG Hollow · 1981
Use of complex components such as microprocessors can allow the construction of very powerful and compact systems. An inherent difficulty associated with such systems is that faults can be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to isolate. It is the author's experience that designers of such systems too frequently give insufficient consideration to system design and often place themselves in very difficult and costly situations when it comes to system testing. In particular, too little consideration is given to system hardware techniques, potentially the generator of the most difficult and costly faults. This paper explains the need for consideration of system hardware at an early stage by properly skilled staff. An outline of suitable hardware techniques is given.
