Studies show that a large number of students entering college expressed ignorance of computer science and the careers to which it could lead1 A few students come to understand the benefits of computer science or realize that they have an interest in majoring in the field after taking a CS elective or initiating a minor in CS. High school counselors and even teachers of computer classes are uninformed of the benefits of a computer science major.
