Cognitive Radio (CR) technology is proposed for using the unused spectrum band efficiently because of the spectrum scarcity problems. Spectrum sensing technology is one of the key challenge issues in cognitive radio system, which enables secondary (unlicensed) users to identify and utilize vacant spectrum resource allocated to primary (licensed) users. In this paper, we discuss the spectrum sensing aspects of cognitive radios. We focus on the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based wireless broadband (WiBro) systems in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and time variant multipath Rayleigh fading channel. And we analyze the performance of spectrum sensing method utilizing power spectral density of the transmitted signals.
