Medical errors are of growing concern in the health care industry. As electronic health record systems are part of the healthcare system, a necessary requirement is that electronic health records are safe and dependable. Safety is the prevention of harm or risk to patients. Therefore risk assessment is needed to outline safety requirements of electronic health record systems. This article will identify the appropriate risk assessment method applicable to the electronic health record systems.
