Kaetlyn Phillips · 1982
Telecom Australia has recently entered the field of automatic mobile telephone service with the establishment of Mobile Telephone Service MTS in Melbourne and Sydney. This service which provides a full facility telephone in a mobile environment adds to the long established telephone radio paging service Telefinder. This paper describes the operation and some of the technology and techniques of these two services with particular reference to their common use of a stored program switching and control exchange. Both systems were designed by Nippon Electric Co. of Japan and supplied by NEC Australia.
