The advances in the computer technology have led to significant productivity enhancement in the information processing technology. This is basically due to increasing utilization of computers virtually in every area of applied sciences that urged efficient and effective information processing for solving the complex problems encountered. One can consider that such problems may be encountered in complex engineering systems. Historically, the computer-aided and/or enhanced applications were initially restricted to algorithmic computations. Algorithmic solutions are mostly systematic solution procedures primarily based on first principles. However, especially in the last decade, in addition to increasing complexity of the tasks to be performed with the special features of diverse engineering disciplines, there appeared new demand for support of algorithmic problem solving methodologies. The new support is provided by a new approach for problem solving stemming from emerging methods and associated technologies.. The algorithmic and non-algorithmic problem solving paradigms can commonly and effectively be combined in such a way that they are applicable for complex problems encountered. This new problem-solving approach applied to complex engineering problems is referred to, here, as method integration. Within the above context, the study identifies the guidelines for method integration and concentrates on those methodologies and technologies supporting the paradigm of method integration with associated problem areas.
