Microprocessor Applications to Improving Graphics Facilities

NE Nimmervoll, R Vesetas · 1979

Microprocessors are already making possible the introduction of new graphics hardware which is both cheaper and provides a greatly increased range of facilities. The next generation of microprocessors offer the promise of computational power as great as a mainframe computer in the terminal. However, the problem not faced up to by graphics hardware suppliers is how to enable users of existing computer graphics systems to take advantage of microprocessor advances. This paper will describe the approach taken by the Communication & Electronic Engineering Department in addressing itself to this problem.
