In this paper, we propose a high-speed communication architecture Based on DMA through cutting down callback latency for a Linux cluster application. A cluster application is to provide high I/O bandwidth in parallel I/O operations. In a cluster application, files are divided into small blocks and stored on multiple nodes. Hence, a cluster application demands a great deal of data to be transferred among nodes, which means that the overall performance of a cluster application is primarily dependent on the bandwidth between cluster nodes. However, software overheads caused by the intervention of the Operating system (OS) prevent applications from fully exploiting the bandwidth of the underlying network. Furthermore, callback latency can be overheads between cluster nodes. So, DMA on Myrinet is considered suitable for interconnection of clustering systems. The DMA Communication architecture through cutting down callback latency presented in this thesis utilizes GM, which is one of the implementations over Myrinet on Linux system. Through performance test, the Communication Module presented is verified competitive.
