In IPTV environment, for provider’s point of view, there is definitely some trade-off between management/deploying cost and user satisfaction. That is, if they locate just one server for content delivery, management cost will be reduced, but response time and traffic load imposed to server will increase. To solve this problem, most IPTV service providers use CDN topology as their underlying network to reduce response time and traffic load. But in this case, they should deploy lots of surrogate servers and it may turn to be the cost. This paper deals with some adequeate network configuration which is CDN-P2P hybrid architecture, and some guideline for CDN cache replacement to minimize storage requirement IPTV server in order to reduce deployment cost.
