Three-Dimensional Structure in Bach's Music
Yoshitake Kobayashi · 음악논단 · 2008
From the fact that Bach repeatedly changed the cyclical order of movements in a large scale works, it is evident that the structure was very important to him. In this respect Bachs music analyzed in simple schemes cannot show its multi-farious complexity. Analyzing Bachs art in the three-dimensional ways only can help understanding his structure perfectly. Bachs large scale works such as Invention and Sinfonia, B minor Mass, Passacaglia, Cantata Gottes Zeit ist die allerbeste Zeit, Johann Passion, Goldberg Variation were examined in this paper to prove their three-dimensional structure.
