An Efficient Usage of Contention Period for Bandwidth Request

Efficient bandwidth (BW) request mechanism is required in broadband cellular system. A novel approach to more efficiently use the contention period for bandwidth request transmission is proposed. A method to properly choose the duration of the contention period and the transmission scheme is also presented.
