The use of the fast Hartley transform to implement a spectrum analyser
LM Hastie, IJ Chant · 1st IASTED International Symposium on Signal Processing and its Applications · 1987
A useful and versatile spectrum analyser for the frequency range .001 Hz to 8 MHz has been realised using a digital storage oscilloscope and a personal computer communicating via a IEEE - 488 bus (GPIB). The spectral algorithm chosen was the Fast Hartley Transform and the software was written in the Forth language. The total time for producing a spectrum from collection to display is about 15 seconds for a 1024 transform. The system was used to produce transfer functions for filters and sensor equipment used in Magnetotelluric sounding.
