Approximately linear phase FIR filters with short signal delay

Recently, many authors have discussed the advantages of using C2iscaded linear-phase FIR filters for sampling rate alteration and narrow-band filtering (see [1] for references). The number of filter coefficients is reduced by using at each stage transfer functions which can be expressed as a function of integer powers of the unit delay.
