Perceptual analysis of voice quality

Gry Tveterås · Scandinavian Journal of Logopedics and Phoniatrics · 1992

Based upon the need to develop new competence concerning voice at the National Centre for Logopedics. Oslo, a set of standardized conditions for voice recordings was determined as a basis for perceptual and acoustic analysis of voice quality. A tentative standard terminology was chosen to describe the different voice qualities logopeds are likely to experience in patients with voice problems. It is important that clinicians in a team of therapists have a common understanding of the semantic content of the parameters describing voice quality. The chosen parameters made up the foundation of study of the inter- and intra-reliability of a group of judges.
