One important function of a thermal power plant's automatic control system is to calculate the technical-economic operating characteristics of the plant. For these calculations a large amount of current information is supplied to the computer from transducers concerning the various parameters. Decreasing the time interval during which the parameters are measured increases the accuracy of the calculated operating characteristics but also increases the load on the computer. Therefore, a numerical method is presented for determining the longest parameter-measuring time interval which will cause a less than 10 percent approximation error in the calculated plant performance characteristics. Using this method, a quantization period of 15s was chosen for determining the technical-economic characteristics at the Zmiev Power Plant. (LCL)
