The dynamic model, ofa constant pressurewater re- servoir system is obtained. A design procedure, combining the classical compensatingnetworks andparameter optimization tech- niques is presented. A performance characteristic constraint on theovershoot andsettling timeofthereservoir's height isassumed whichimplies theneed ofaleadcompensator. Thelead compensa- tor's pole positionisobtained byminimizing an integral squareerror costfunction. Therepeated-operation modeoftheanalog computer is usedinan automatic parameter sweep methodtofind theoptimum leadcompensating network.Theresults obtained givethedesired variation ofthereservoir's height whichisproportional tothepres- sure.
