Jozef Dziak · 2013

This paper deals with graphical methods for analysis of nonlinear circuits. It deals with the advantages and disadvantages of graphical analysis. Paper explores options of MATLAB for graphical analysis of nonlinear circuits. 1. Basics The need to solve a system of nonlinear equations arises in several ways as part of circuit simulation. For finding either the quiescent steady state solution under DC inputs, the initial solution required to initiate Transient Analysis, or for finding the DC transfer characteristic etc. There are a number of methods used on analysis of nonlinear circuits, both for steady-state processes and for the examination of transient processes. All these methods can be solved in three groups: a) graphical methods, b) analytical methods, c) numerical methods. Simulation is important for designing, verifying and checking of nonlinear circuits. Modeling presents a process by which the real physical system is transformed into mathematical model in form of set of equations. Simulation is the process when a computer is used to obtain numerical or analytical solution [1]. Circuit can be solved graphically if we do not need the exact solution. This method is recommended for simple circuits where visual information about the properties is more needed. 2. Nonlinear circuits In accordance with the classifications of circuit
