Abstract — XML [Extensible Markup Language] has become a standard for storing and exchanging information across heterogeneous platform. The flexibility of XML in both semantics and structure makes mining from XML data a complex task as compared to traditional association rules mining in relational database. The major challenges are complication in hierarchical data structure and ordered data context. In this paper we present a technique for mining association rules from XML document which provide required information on structure and content of XML file. The tree based association rules [TARs] are stored in XML format as a means to represent intensional knowledge in original XML. The mined knowledge [TARs] are further used for XML query answering support which enables accurate and quick answering.
