An Analytical Model of theRouteAcquisition

The paperpresents ananalysis oftheRouteAcqui- sition Process intheAdHocOnDemandDistance Vector (AODV) routing protocol. Wedevelop ananalytical modeldescribing the probability ofrealizing theRouteRequest Process inacertain numberofhops, taking into account somepossible errors andlink breaks during thepathtoward destination. Comparisons between simulations performed witha simple simulator developed in C andmodelresults confirm theeffectiveness oftheproposed model. Otherinteresting numerical results abouttheinfluence ofsomescenario parameters overtheRouteRequest Process performances aredescribed.
