EFFICIENT U1 INTERACTION WITH TMN R4HNAGEMENT

Heribert Baldus, Eike Gegenmantel · 1995

Although the TMN standard enables system providers to build up Operations Systems being able to manage -based on structured information- even complex networks, one remaining problem is still not solved satis- factory: The adequate and eficient trarufer of informa- tion to the user, i.e. the network operating personnel. This paper presents an integrating structuring approach to bridge the gap between the network management sys- tem and the corresponding user interface system respon- sible for grqphical representations of the managed network. The approach proposes a clear separation of management system and user interface from the imple- mentation view point, and a full integration on the infor- mation model level. The basic network information as states and topology should be represented by a generic user interface, that is Seen from the management system as a basic management application, and from the user as a navigation environment that presents the basic infor- mation and is framework for advanced management ap- plications at the same time.
