INSTRUMENTMODULAR DESIGNBASEDON LXIBUS

Huiqin Zhan · 2006

Withtheadoptionofswitched Ethernet andprecision clocksynchronization technology, theInternet protocols areused more and more inthemeasurementand control field duetoimproved network speed, communicationreliability and real-time capabilities. Thus, thereisanimminent need toestablish a standard forbothnetworked measurementand controlsystemsand instrument buses.LXI(LAN-based Extensions forInstruments), whichisastandard interface forLAN-basednetworked and modularized measurementinstruments, emergedfrom suchbackground. Thispaperstudiedthe hardwareand software designtechniques based on LXI bus poweredinstrument modules, proposed ageneral architecture for such modulesthatutilizing embedded microprocessors andnetworkinterface chips anddiscussed theclocksynchronization and triggering ofLXIinstruments.
