A new-type camera, HDD/DVDHybridCamcorder, wasproposed, whoseadvantages are; (1)Long-time recording onbuilt-in HDD, (2)Discinteroperability withDVD players, and (3)Stand-alone dubbing function (x2speed). Thenewcamera, actually developed cost-effectively, isalready inthemarket. Thispaperpresents technically howtheHDD/DVD HybridCamcorder wasdesigned effectively. I.INTRODUCTION Thankstotheconvenience ofrandomaccessibility and compatibility withDVD Players/Recorders, DVD camcorders havediffused, andrecording mediaforconsumer video camcorders shift todiscs fromDV tapes. Butinrecent years, newmediacamcorders, likeFlash Memorycamcorders andHDD camcorders havebeen developed. Thesecamcorders havesomenewfeatures; small- size, lightweight, short timestartup, andlongtime recording with HDD. Therefore along this trend, Hybrid Camcorder withbuilt in HDD andDVD Drive hasbeenproposed anddeveloped. First, this newHybrid Camcorder improves recording time keeping theadvantages ofdiscs' easyhandling andrandom accessibility, while therecoding timewastheworstweakness point fordiscs. Next,itimproves discinteroperability and dubbing function keeping theadvantages ofHDD'shigh capacity. Finally, itkeeps thesize conventional forincluding HDD.Thesegive theHybrid Camcorder great advantages for users.
