To enhance rho throughput of' U slotted ALOHA control chunnel in U radio cmzinunication system. we preseizt and analyze a melhou' for estimating the nunzher of reinole stations rhtrr LE~P attenzpting to ti-rrn.cnzil to u central hnsr .station. Each of the contcwding remote stutions randonzlAv chooses to trunsmit with prohahilit?; p. Our novel contribution is the L~SP of injbrmation cotzcerriing the nunzher qf successful packet tmrzsniissioizs lhrrr LI r-1-ive wit h o U 1 retraizsnz issio n (i. e. , that are success fully lwei ved OFI their, first transmission attempt). as U iizetric,/br accurately and robustly estinaating the nunzher of contending remote .stations. This estinzate is determirwd at the base station and then used lo compute the optimal transmission probabilit?/ p that is used 11.7, feedback to the remote stations ,for their use. The proposed r,stinicitioi~ method is shown to provide both good .steadystate pei.fbi.munce and trucking capabi1itie.y.
