Inthis paper, imagesegmentation isaddressed within theframeworkofnonlinear multiscale watersheds incombination with graph theory. First, agraph iscreated whichdecomposes the imageinscale andspace using theconcept ofmultiscale watersheds. Inthesubsequent steptheobtained graph ispartitioned using recursive graph cutsinacoarse tofine manner. Inthis way,wecombine scale andfeature measures inaflexible way.Thedissimilarity between graph-nodes isestimated byusing theEarth Mover's Distance onafeatureset that combines color, scale andcontrast. Experimental results demonstrate theefficiency oftheproposed method fornatural scene images.
