Torbjörn Söderstedt · 2005
Despite the increasing popularity of Java, most of the program code for UNIX-systems produced today, is written in C/C++. Due to the lack of standardisation of UNIX-systems, problems can sometimes occur when trying to compile code on different UNIX-systems. GNU Autoconf and its associated tools can be used to overcome these difficulties by making software packages as portable as possible and further more able a novice to easily configure, compile and install software packages.
