In the last couple of years the Unidirectional Bus System (UBS) has emerged as the response t.o t,he current demand for integration of voice/data/video 011 a. single high bandwidth local area network. In t.his paper we propose basic access protocols for a twin-bus UBS implement.at.io11, The proposed prot,ocols are fairly siiiii1a.r to that of Fasnet. [LIMB82 S LlNIB831. However, the gaps between cycles have been considerably reduced. The sasings will part,icula.rly increase \vit.h ca.blr bandwidth. In fact, except for a few cases of light. load tra.ffic the proposed prot,ocol achieves close to 100 percent channel utilization.
