A relatively newmethodofmeasuring sagona transmission lineconductor usingDifferential Global Positioning System(DGPS)isdiscussed withfocusonthe realtimedataprocessing moduleintegrated withtheDGPS system. Theobjective ofthedataprocessing modulewasto extract thealtitude information fromGPS signals and evaluate theconductor togroundclearance inrealtime. Field tests indicated thatusing exponential smoothing witha processing windowsize of60or120seconds gives themost accurate valueofsagmeasured viaGPS.Measuredvalues wereingoodagreement withtheactual values.
