The use of acoustic vector sensor array for accurate estimation of direction of arrival (DoA) will reduce the number of sensors required and also eliminates the constraint that the spacing between the sensors should not exceed half wavelength. In this paper, we present Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) beamforming approach for an acoustic vector sensor linear array. Simulation results show that MUSIC beamforming of an acoustic vector sensor linear array outperforms that of a pressure sensor when dealing with the following aspects: no left/right ambiguity problem; allowing the uniform inter element spacing to exceed the Nyquist half wavelength upper limit; and having a better performance for DOA estimation when dealing with sources very close to each other.
