Current GPS-based vehicle navigation systems provide drivers withinformation about thelocation andtheavailability ofaparking lot nearthespecified destination. However, this availability information isprovided based only onthecurrent state oftheparking lot.Therefore, they fail topredict whether thevehicle wouldbeabletoget aparking lotwhenitactually arrives. Inthis paper, we propose ascientific solution tothis problem byutilizing thehistory andcurrent status oftheoccupancy/availability. Wemodeltheavailability ofaparking lotbythePoisson process, andpropose anintelligent algorithm that allows drivers tochoose aparking lotwiththemaximumprobability ofgetting it.Thepreliminary experimental results showtheutility oftheproposed algorithm.
