Sumnary A remote controlledfrequencysynthesistuning systemfor colorTV application, controlledby a new dedicatedsinglechip/u-computer from the 8048familyis described.Becauseit is highly modular,the systemcan be usedin a broadrange of TV receivers,beginningat the basicportable and endingat the Topof the Rangemodel.The modularity of thismicrocomputer controlled system is duenotonlyto thenumberandtypesof integrated circuitsbut alsoto the featuresof the controlsoftwarerunningon the computer.The flexibilityof the systemis increasedby softwaremodules,activatedby programmingdiodes,whichdetermineboth internalsystem featuresand user operation. /u-canputers the flexibilityproblemwas solved by software, but what remainedwere the costsfor additionalperipheralcomponents usedin the interface sectionand for functionsthe u-computer couldnotfulfil3). Thistypeof controlby a standard /u-computer surroundedby a lot of peripheral circuitryis widelyused in TV-setsproduced today.
