Channel Assignment Algorithms for Wireless Mesh Networks

Vladimír Wieser · 2011

Wireless mesh networks (WMNs) offer many advantages in terms of scalability, connectivity and reliability. WMN provides multi-hop wireless connectivity between mesh nodes and also allows access to the internet via gateway nodes. Mesh nodes are typically equipped with the single radio interface. In this configuration exists several limitations, such as lower throughput. This paper is focused on the channel assignment algorithms which efficiently utilize multiple radio interfaces to achieve improvement of the network capacity. The simulation model of WMN was created in NS-2 simulator, and the performance of the WMN based on chosen quality of service parameters (QoS) was studied.
