Urbantransportation systems arecomplexin nature astheyinvolve manyinteracting agents behaving in myriadwaysthatareextremely difficult topredict. The development of intermodal passengertransportation solutions to addressthemobility issues facingsociety constitutes amajorthrust areaofurbantransport policies. Butintermodal transportation systemmanagement (ITSM), tooffer citizens comprehensive seamless mobility, requires theintegration ofdifferent modulestohelptheoperator, responsible fortheregulation. Twomajorcomponents ofan ITSM arethetraffic regulation supportsystemforthe coordination of timetables, synchronising arrival and departure timesbetween modes,andtheusersinformation system, giving customers access toinformation andusing a comprehensive setofinformation tools. Inthispaper,a genericmodelof a transport managementsystem, integrating thesetwomodulesisproposed. Thisgeneric modelisthenusedfordesigning atraffic regulation system inthecaseofabimodal transportation system(tram-bus). Thetraffic regulation support system, basedonthedecision modelofanoperator, andthecustomers information system aredescribed.
