To verify whether seaclutter haschaotic character ornot,theminimumembedding dimension andtimedelay in phasespacereconstruction areneeded. Thispaperdiscusses twodefects ofFalse Nearest Neighbors (FNN)forcalculating embeddingdimension: noisesensitivity and effect of subjective parameter. Itwasconfirmed thatCaomethod couldovercometheselimitations andsettle on a suitable embeddingdimension of timeseriesand distinguish deterministic signals andstochastic signals clearly. Itis concluded thatseaclutter iscomposedof stochastic component anddetermined component together.
