SOFTWARE RELIABILITY MODEL SELECTION: A CASE STUDY
Eoca Raton · 1991
Predicting the remaining errors in a software system hstorically has been dlffcult to do with accuracy. The models used to predict future events have often worked well on one system or collection of data, and not at all well on another. hluch of the recent work in the software reliabihty field has been on model selection and identifying which model would work well lvith which software system. The Akaike Information Criterion can be used to select the best model from among several models. This paper presents a case study of an application of this technique to an ongoing software project. The *de Information Criterion ivas used to select the best model for a system and then that model was used to predict the number of remaining errors.
