While ithasbeenshownthatTCP Vegasprovides betterperformance comparedto TCP Reno, studies have identified various issues associated withtheprotocol inmobile ad hocnetworks. We proposemodifications tothecongestion avoidance mechanismoftheTCP Vegastoovercomethese limitations. Oursolution, namedTCPVegas_M, isdependent on FEDM fuzzy logic theory todistinguish network congestion states andwireless channel states, andbasedonadhocnetworks states (congestion, uncertain, andbiterror), TCPsender adoptdifferent congestion avoidance algorithms tocontrol congestion window size, aimsistooptimize adhocnetwork throughput andachieve better performance. Simulation experiments showthatTCP Vegas-Misabletoovercome several oftheidentified problems-it canobtain morethroughput thanTCPRenoandTCPVegas, and avoid oscillation ofTCPsender congestion window.
