Pathandlocation tracking areoneofthemaininteresting andfastgrowingapplications inMobileandWireless Communications. Thedevelopments ofsuchsystems have interested manyresearch, industrial andgovernment bodies withsolutions thatrangeinscale andaccuracy. TheGPS system, Cellbasedtracking incellular networks arejust few examples. Howeversuchtechnologies havetheir limitations. GPSdoesnotworkinside buildings, cellular systems arenot ownedbyorganizations andonly workwithmobile phones and havehigh subscription fees. Theprototype implemented inthis paperillustrates a simplepathand location tracking systemwithinan organization basedon itsavailable infrastructure Wi-Fi network. Byusing signal strength andhistories ofaccess points usedbya mobile nodewe canprovide anapproximate determination ofthelocation intheservices areaandalsothe movedpathofthemobile node. Inourworkwe useweb services forlocation services toenable queries andmanagethe pathandlocation ofthemobile node. Thesystem hasshown impressive results that enable software developers toprovide useful typesoflocation basedservice applications for organizational tasks.
